A $22M new‑build museum and workforce center at Hickory Regional Airport — stick curtainwall and storefront systems that put aircraft on display behind walls of glass.
The new Hickory Aviation Museum shares its home with the CVCC Workforce Innovation Center — a $22M facility at Hickory Regional Airport that opened in May 2026. Working for David E. Looper & Company, A‑1 Glass & Aluminum served as the project's storefront contractor, delivering the stick curtainwall and storefront systems that give the building its glass‑forward character.
A‑1's project manager identified several areas of improvement in the field that, in the general contractor's words, saved the project from significant delays. Thorough communication and a solution‑focused crew carried the glazing scope through to a clean opening.

Field‑assembled stick curtainwall on the museum's primary elevations — tall, open glass bays that showcase the aircraft inside.
Storefront and entrance systems at the visitor entry and along the Workforce Innovation Center frontage.
Framed window openings set into the standing‑seam metal skin, detailed to read as one system with the curtainwall.
